Here comes the sun ......?

This weather is just perfect for me, it's not too hot but the sun really makes you feel better. My little blue tit spent several days taking twigs and moss and stuff into her little house but I've not seen her for a couple of days so I guess she's sat on an egg now - I'm so tempted to take a peek but I know I can't upset her if she is in there.

For the past few months we've been running a Tail Survey on our web site, trying to ascertain what the most common bulldog tail shape is, especially after the KC refused to upgrade the tail description in the breed standard to include anything other than a straight tail as highly undesirable. The results were quite suprising with straight tails coming in at 40% and screw tails as 42%. You can see the full results here.

I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to break to my neighbours that there's a planned scooter ride out in aid of Bulldog Rescue on the 9th May planned to finish here. Dizzy was founder member and number one of the Midhurst Detours scooter club back in the early 80s up until he broke his back on his scooter on the M11 in 1984, the club decided to honour the work he now does with a fund raising ride out, so do I keep quiet and make out I never expected so many or do I tell them LOL. Info about the ride out here
There's plenty of other fund raising events planned so be sure to check out the fund raising page on the web site.
We had a lovely little girl come in from Battersea yesterday, she's only got one eye and has the most adorable personality, apparently she's a stray but she's so beautiful that's really hard to beleive. I can't see it being long before she's in a new home ....

Gardens and Spring

The equinox a few weeks back signed in the beginning of Spring and that of course brings the ground to life as the wheel clicks another notch. I put a bird box up outside my bedroom window and was delighted to see last week that it has an occupant who is very busy building her nest. It's going to be exciting to watch how it develops. And no lude comments please - I've already had those on facebook ;o)
Things are quite peaceful in rescue at present. We've just year ended and I was horrified to note that the number of dogs through has increased by almost 40 dogs on last year, I can't see things getting any easier now either with many of them proving difficult to rehome as people want a cheap dog with no problems - sadly many of them are older and come with problems. If you can help any of our dogs out please visit www.bulldogrescue.co.uk/homes_needed.htm but please dont just apply for the youngers - the oldies need love too!
